Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, Citigroup’s former chief, listed his lower penthouse apartment in New York City for $88 million. In February, a trust linked to daughter Ekaterina Rybolovlev bought the 6,744-square-foot apartment for full price. It was also the highest price ever paid for a New York City home.

Howard Marks, investing expert with Oaktree Capital Management, bought this apartment at 740 Park Ave apartments, New York, New York in May 2012 for $52.5 million all cash from Courtney Sale Ross, Steven J. Ross’s widow. Ross was the former chairman of Time Warner. The co-op is home to other billionaires Stephen Schwarzman and Ronald Lauder.
Until November, the apartment represented the most expensive co-op price ever paid in New York and probably the entire United States.

Winfrey never lived in the apartment herself, having a spacious nearby duplex and Promised Land, her 23-acre Montecito, California estate she bought in 2001 for $50 million.

He had sold his Plaza apartment in 2010 for $24.4 million and was looking for another Central Park-area home. The new penthouse contains 14 rooms, a 900-square foot living room, master suite with his-and-hers dressing rooms and a gym, a media room and library. The seller was Christopher Jeffries, founding partner of Millenium Partners.

In September 2012, Oracle tech titan Larry Ellison, with a net worth of $41 billion, purchased this Carbon Beach estate in Malibu, California for $37 million from Yahoo CEO Terry Semel. The original asking price was $50 million.
