As an adult he feels the sudden need to investigate the scars and lands smack in the middle of an Army biological research site cleanup that unleashes an exponentially growing organism that will destroy earth in a matter of hours.
Johnathon Schaech (Frank), Erica Leerhsen (Carrie), James McDaniel (Col Maitland), Jason Wiles (Glenn).
Having never heard of this one before I stumbled across it, I wasn’t expecting much. I’m happy to say I was wrong. Not an entirely original plot but the film started out with some pretty good drama, slid into some mystery and intrigue before jumping full tilt into the action. I enjoyed the suspense of the military finding an unknown vat of dead monkeys and people and how the organism came to life so quickly.
Acting wasn’t all that great in this one although I thought Schaech and Leerhsen both did pretty well.
Special effects weren’t all that great but then they had a pretty challenging thing to try and portray. I’m not sure there are any special effects that would have made it completely believable. Dialogue and sound were okay. Sets were okay with a mix of realistic backgrounds and what appeared to be archive footage.
Overall I thought this was a pretty decent horror flick. It seems to have been done with a fair amount of quality and holds your interest pretty well. If you are a fan of the genre you will probably enjoy this one. If you are overly critical expecting top notch quality with anything you watch then skip this one.
Some violence, mildly gruesome images, and language so this one should be okay for older teens and above. It may give the younger kids nightmares.
