MSNBC’s Chris Matthews minced no words Wednesday when he called GOP Sens. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Rand Paul terrorists, claiming their only goal is to “blow things up,” Scott Whitlock reported at Newsbusters.
Whitlock said Matthews used the smear repeatedly during the segment, angry the three conservatives are trying to stop Obamacare.
“Finally, let me finish with the political terrorists of the right…Their names are Cruz, Paul and Lee,” he said.
According to Matthews, their attempts to defund Obamacare are “more than just obstructionism, this is political terrorism.”
“I’ve used the term political terrorists. I will continue to use it. For short hand, I’ll say terrorist,” Matthews said. And like all terrorists, including those who use bombs, their number one goal, their only goal, is to blow things up.”
The attack seemed too much for former Obama political aide David Axelrod, who told Matthews he was “uncomfortable” with the word, but “only out of respect for the victims of violent terrorists and that’s why I wouldn’t use it.”
But Matthews wasn’t finished, as he claimed Cruz, Lee and Paul are “terrorists with one purpose: To bring down, not just this administration, but let’s face it, the American government.”
“Is there any outrageous attack that will be too much for Matthews’s bosses at MSNBC?” Whitlock asked.
This is the network that suggested the time may be right for violent revolution in the United States.
During the 2010 gathering of radical leftists at the One Nation Rally, MSNBC host Ed Schultz called conservatives “evil,” and once expressed his desire to see former Vice President Dick Cheney die.
MSNBC is also home to activist Al Sharpton, who has been busy stoking racial strife in the wake of George Zimmerman’s acquittal. The network also employs Melissa Harris-Perry, who once declared children belong to the “community” as a whole.
MSNBC hosts like Matthews and Martin Bashir frequently compare Republicans to Hitler and the Nazis.
Rhetoric at MSNBC can apparently cause some on the left to engage in violent and even criminal behavior.
When sentenced to prison for threatening a member of Congress, a Florida man said in 2010 he watched too much MSNBC.
