Local natural hair product business, Koils By Nature will be hosting a DC/MD/VA Meetup in conjunction with International Natural Hair Meetup Day.
The meetup will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Holiday Inn Alexandria on 2460 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, VA from 11 to 4 pm.

Attendees will have a fun/educational-filled day consisting of learning about natural hair care maintenance and styling techniques, make-up and skin care as well as get the opportunity to shop from unique vendors.

Celebrity stylist, Felicia Leatherwood will be conducting a Loving Your Hair with Natural Care workhop.

Felicia specializes in helping women transition hairstyles and grow healthier hair. These styles range from “get up and go” to the latest trends.”
Keianna (KeeKeeAllNatural) Johnson, Certified Natural Hair Care, Braiding & Lock Technician will be speaking about children’s hair care.
Keianna is the owncer of ChiChi Sophistication salon and her unique hairstyles have been featured in several magazines.
Dr. Andrene Taylor, founder and CEO of local non-profit organization ZuriWorks™ will be speaking about cancer and how it affects the community.
One lucky person will be receiving a “big chop” in conjunction with the organization’s Big Chop to Stop Cancer campaign.
Felicia Leatherwood will be doing the “big chop”. She has created styles for Jill Scott, Sanaa Lathan, Will Smith, Terrence Howard, Anthony Anderson and more.
Pictures of her most recent ‘big chops’ done on celebrities Kim Coles and Tomiko Fraser Hines have been blasted throughout the blogoshpere.
The Big Chop to Stop Cancer campaign asks black women to cut their hair to raise cancer awareness.
It also calls for women to raise their collective voices in a call to action to their communities to improve their general knowledge around cancer, while simultaneously challenging misconceptions about black women and their hair.

International Natural Hair Meetup Day is an annual one-day event.
Its purpose is to allow the opportunity for women across the country to meet in their own communities while networking, sharing and meeting (virtually) other women across the country participating in meetups on the same day.
Natural hair meetups are events designed to share information, techniques, inspiration and products to aid individuals in their natural hair journey.
Attendees of the natural hair meetup will be able to:
