Since the decision was announced indicating Cote de Pablo, Ziva of “NCIS,” would not be returning to the popular CBS series this fall, fans have been speculating about the reason behind de Pablo’s exit from the series. A star doesn’t just walk away from the number one rated television series, right?
Wrong, at least per reports from CBS. Per an interview with Les Moonves July 29, 2013, CEO of CBS, Moonves indicated de Pablo was offered not one but two raises in an attempt to have her remain on the series. The starlet remained firm in her decision not to return for another season.
We offered Cote de Pablo a lot of money — and then we offered even more money. We didn’t want to lose her. We love her … We obviously were in discussion with the rest of the cast and the producers (and Cote). Ultimately, she decided she didn’t want to do the show.”
de Pablo will be returning for at least one episode, which is being described as “emotional” by CBS, in the series’ eleventh season in order to tie up loose ends with Ziva’s story line. In addition, CBS teases there will be several “unexpected twists” in the lives of Palmer, McGee, and Vance and that the NCIS team will face their most dangerous adversary to date.
How do you think Ziva’s exit will be handled? Do you think the writers will kill off the character? How would you like to see Ziva leave the series?
