Anything with the word ‘cool’ in it this time of year gets my vote. So this Examiner is looking forward to next month’s Ninth Annual COOLinary New Orleans, a month-long event showcasing a plethora of the city’s finest dining establishments.
COOLinary encourages locals to experience Big Easy cuisine, from oysters to jambalaya, at a reduced price. The line-up of restaurants-to-drool-over is representative of this foodie-centric city.
Of course, tourists are more than welcome and are encouraged to live like a local by eating and acting spicy while in town.
NOLA CVP tells us that participants will be offering special two and three-course lunch menus for $20 or less and/or three-course dinner menus for $35 or less between Aug. 1 and 31.
The event not only trumpets Cajun and other local cuisines, but celebrates newcomers in the culinary community. According to the CVP, the Crescent City boasts nearly 1,350 restaurants. The “Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown” campaign has officially started.
Kim Priez, Vice President of Tourism for the New Orleans CVB, said:
COOLinary New Orleans encourages locals to experience the best our world-class chefs have to offer at the city’s prestigious and beloved restaurants. The chefs and all others that make up the restaurant business are a crucial part of our travel and tourism industry, a driving force of the local economy. By dining out, New Orleanians are keeping our tourism industry flowing during this typically slower month.
