Who enters a competition to be second or third place? After two years of jurying and awarding entrants for excellence in thematic quality as well as talent and skill in their medium, Eco Arts Awards it will not
award any more second places! What Eco Arts Awards will do going forward is announce 20 semi-finalists, 10 finalists, a First Place winner for each of its categories, and then select one Grand Prize winner
from all four categories. The semi-finalists who do not make it to the finals will all be awarded Honorable Mentions, and will receive a prestigious award icon. All finalists will also receive an award icon. All Honorable Mentions and Finalists will then be promoted throughout the year, as will the First Place Winners and the Grand Prize Winner!
At the very heart of Eco Arts Awards is an intention to break new ground, open new horizons, to create change in culture. No small task!
We have nearly seven billion people on the planet, some of those seven billion are super rich, others just plain rich, many are somewhat comfortable because they ‘earned it’, others seriously struggle and stress to make ends meets, while even more actually starve, yet an inert uniformity around this issue remains? When we think of ecology we often think about ‘saving’ something- trees, whales, the polar bears … but what about humans? Humans have the greatest capacity to do good or harm on this planet. Eco Arts Awards wants to do its part to broaden to conversation and stimulate thought around one of the more important issues of our time. Artist’s and the arts have always played an important role in influencing culture.
Having said all of the above perhaps you can now better understand why you can expect the unexpected from Eco Arts Awards. It is only in its 3rd year so there will likely be more changes along the way but it intends to be very discriminating about those changes. People can count on its final deadline being in the fall, and its winners always being announced early in the New Year. Eco Arts Awards is now accepting entries for its 2014 winners!
Please spread the word by telling everyone whom you think would be interested in what Eco Arts Awards is doing! It is a competition where more people are going to be treated equally in the glory and publicity of winning because the primary driver here is to get artists messages out there to influence culture!
