Tourism officials in the state of Alabama have issued a list of the “100 Places to Hear Live Music in Alabama”. There are many music venues from the Huntsville / North Alabama area that have made this list.
Music attractions from our area making the list
There are several attractions from the Huntsville area making the list of attractions honoring music and musicians. The Delmore Room at the Brewer Library on the Calhoun Community College campus in Decatur made the list. Also making the list in the northwest corner of the state are the W.C. Handy Birthplace (Florence), FAME Recording Studios (Muscle Shoals), Alabama Music Hall of Fame (Tuscumbia), and the Tammy Wynette Display at the Red Bay Museum (Red Bay). Two sites from Fort Payne honoring the country music group ALABAMA also make the list: the ALABAMA Fan Club and Museum, and the ALABAMA Statues at Fort Payne City Park.
Colbert County live music venues making the list
Four Muscle Shoals venues made the list: PJs, Sidelines Sports Deli, Sundance Saloon, and Trojan House Sandwich & Coffee Shop. Three Tuscumbia venues made the list: Frank’s Italian Restaurant, Rattlesnake Saloon at Seven Springs Lodge, and Spring Park Market. Three Sheffield venues made the list: Fizz Lounge at the Emerald River Hotel, J.D.’s Lounge, and Sandbar Bar & Grill.
DeKalb County live music venues making the list
One venue in Fort Payne made the list. That venue is Ol’ Tymers BBQ & Blues.
Jackson County live music venues making the list
One venue in Scottsboro made the list. That venue is The Docks.
Lauderdale County live music venues making the list
Five venues in Florence made the list. Those are McGraws Coffee House, Muscle Shoals to Music Row LIVE, On the Rocks, The Smokehouse, and Swampers Lounge.
Limestone County live music venues making the list
Several live music venues in Limestone County make the list. In Ardmore, the Ardmore Annex Building on Main Street made the list. In Athens, eight music venues made the list: Alabama Opry, Athens Bible School, Athens Recreation Center, Johnny’s Place, Singing on the Square, Maria Bonita Restaurant, Village Pizza, and Yesterdays Event Center. Two venues in Elkmont made the list: Elkmont Depot and The Red Caboose.
Madison County live music venues making the list
Seventeen venues (the most of any city in our area) from Huntsville made the list: 801 Franklin, Bandito Southside Burrito Company, Black Water Hattie’s, Crossroads Cafe, Finnegan’s Pub, Furniture Factory Bar & Grill, Flying Monkey Arts Center, Hog Wild Saloon, Humphrey’s Bar & Grill, Kaffeeklatsch Bar, Lee Ann’s, Sports Page Lounge & Deli, Voodoo Lounge, The Zone, Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment, Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center, and The Von Braun Center. Two venues in Madison made the list: The Station Pub & Grill, and Stem & Stein.
Marshall County live music venues making the list
JaMoka’s in Boaz made the list. Three venues in Guntersville made the list: Boondocks, Crawmama’s Steaks and Seafood, and Networks at Best Western.
Morgan County live music venues making the list
Three Decatur venues made the list. Those are the Brick Deli & Tavern, Hard Dock Cafe, and Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts.
