Novecento Pizzeria is the creation of Chef Marc Sgrizzi. Novecento means 900 and a new concept by Chef Marc is his 900 degree pizza oven. The stone oven burns almond wood at a temperature of over 900 degrees and cooks your pizza in about 90 seconds. Part
of the fun of ordering a pizza at Novecento is watching your pizza be hand shaped and fired in the pizza oven, which is the focal point of the food prep area. You can watch the process from start to finish.
At Novecento, they suggest limiting the number of toppings on your pizza to 3 or 4, due to the nature of how quickly they are cooked. When you walk in the door, you are greeted by signs that explain the concept of customizing your pizza and different stations where you can order your pizza, salad, drinks and desserts.
Novecento’s pizzas are made with an eleven-inch diameter, which is customary to Italy. They offer hand tossed wood burning pizza using only the finest ingredients, imported from Italy. They use San Marzano tomatoes from Napoli, Italy, 00 Caputo Flour from Campania, Italy and fresh mozzarella. The pizza emulates the pizza found on the streets of Naples.
The menu offers an appetizer of a Cheese & Olives Platter for only $5.00 or Wood Oven Appetizers of Meatball, Sausage or Pasta Fagiole for only $4.50 each. A small salad will easily feed 2 people when paired with a pizza and they use fresh farmers market selections (subject to seasonal availability). There are several types of salads to choose from including Antipasto, Arugula, Caprese, Burrata, and Caesar. The Chopped Salad we selected had romaine, genoa salami, gorgonzola, red wine vinaigrette, roasted red peppers, and red onions and was wonderful paired with our Margherita pizza which had marinara, fresh mozzarella, basil, EVOO, and grated cheese. The pizza was very reasonable for $7.99 and then we added pepperoni for only $1.00 more. Select one of the Pizziolo Specialties or top your own – either way, one of their master Pizzaiolo’s will create and fire your pizza masterpiece. Other entrée offerings are Calzone or Stromboli, or their House Specialty of Eggplant Parmesan.
The restaurant offers soda, water, beer and wine, along with coffee bar offerings. For dessert, try their gelato, cannoli, or gelato in an espresso.
With 3,000 square feet of dining, Novecento’s is ideal for large parties. The décor is themed around their concept of Neapolitan pizza like you would find in Naples, Italy and their 900 degree pizza oven. The staff is friendly and there is a good chance you will get to meet Chef Marc as he oversees the Pizzaiolo’s preparation of your delicious pizza.
Chef Marc trained at such prestigious places as Grimaldi’s and has owned several
restaurants in Florida during his career. In 2000 he opened Marc’s Italian Steak
House in Las Vegas and has never looked back. After selling the steak house, he
also opened Mezzo, which he then sold, and Parma. If you ever ate at Mezzo while
he still owned it, you know it was a wonderful dining experience. You can see the story of Chef Marc’s culinary journey culminating in his development of his Novecento Pizza Oven on the Novecento website.
