The magical caper film “Now You See Me” was a surprise hit at the box office over the weekend, and will be one of the most exciting movies of the summer. Movies about magic have not been incredibly successful in the past, but if you have not seen this movie yet, you should.
The film has the tag line “The closer you look, the less you will actually see” and this couldn’t be more true. Four talented magicians come together to complete the ultimate magic trick and rob banks for their audiences. The FBI and Interpol work together to track their movements and stop them for good with enough evidence.
J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg) is a cocky slight of hand magician with incredible talent and a paranoid personality. Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher) is the former assistant of Atlas, who is also a skilled escape artist. They meet up with the older mentalist Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson) with a tendency to scam people, and Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) an aspiring magician who has a lot to learn and prove.
While this film is fast paced with lots of actions and suspense, it will definitely make you think and you need to really pay attention to every little scene and bit of dialogue to really get the effects and end of the film. Mark Ruffalo plays a very convincing FBI agent Dylan Rhodes and Morgan Freeman plays the confident magic trick revealer Thaddeus Bradley.
The Louis Leterrier film is filled with outstanding special effects and witty dialogue. Several events in the movie are misdirections and some of them aren’t. It’s for this reason that the big plot twist at the end is still a surprise, instead of being predictable.
