“Boko Haram has killed an estimated 10,000 Nigerians, primarily Christians, police officers and military personnel…”
In spite of a stated desire “to establish a pure Islamic state in northern Nigeria” via the murder of thousands of both Nigerian Christians and troops of the Nigerian national army, the Barack Obama Administration steadfastly refuses to classify the main Muslim terrorist organization in the west African nation as such, instead, electing to tag them as fighters against various secular injustices, as reported by Front Page Magazine via Goggle News on May 10, 2013.
The al-Qaeda inspired Nigerian terrorist army Boko Haram (Jamā’a Ahl al-sunnah li-da’wa wa al-jihād,) correctly translated as “People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet’s Teachings and Jihad” latest move to secede from the Abuja-based central government has been a coordinated and highly complex series of simultaneous attacks on the barracks of the 202 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, a local police station and a federal prison.
Whilst freeing 105 of their confederates from incarceration, the jihadists managed to kill at least 42 soldiers and various law enforcement officials.
As cited here, Boko Haram has killed an estimated 10,000 Nigerians, primarily Christians, police officers and military personnel since its founding in 2001.
Current American Administration Blames Nigerian Government For Violence…
In spite of Boko Haram’s blood soaked history, the Obama Administration adamantly refuses to designate the organization as terrorists.
As referenced to by Front Page Magazine, while testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs in March of 2012, the former Asst. Sec. of State for Africa, Johnnie Carson stated:
It is important to note that religion is not the primary driver behind extremist violence in Nigeria.
The Nigerian government must effectively engage communities vulnerable to extremist violence by addressing the underlying political and socio-economic problems in the North.
Not to be outdone, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom’s (USCIRF), headed by life-long Democrat and former staffer to Sen. Joe Biden, Dr. Katrina Lantos Swett, has reported:
The U.S. government consistently has urged the Nigerian government to expand its strategy against Boko Haram from solely a military solution to addressing problems of economic and political marginalization in the north.
USCIRF went on to argue;
Boko Haram’s motivations are not religious but socio-economic.
