U.K. pop group One Direction made an addendum to its Take Me Home tour setlist on Tuesday night. For the first time, the guys performed their latest hit single, “Best Song Ever,” in San Jose, Calif.
“San Jose sick crowd! First time we ever did ‘best song ever’ tonight! What a reaction! Loved rockin out with the guitar on that!” 1D member Niall Horan wrote on Twitter about the special performance.
One Direction released “Best Song Ever” and its wacky Hollywood music video last week. The amped-up pop song created quite a fuss among fans, breaking the VEVO record for most views in a single day. In honor of the single’s recent success, the group finally performed it live for a massive crowd in San Jose.
As soon as the opening notes of “Best Song Ever” hit, the audience knows what to expect and goes wild. Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan perform their solo parts on the track with a major echo from the crowd singing along. Horan pulls double duty, both singing and playing guitar, as he mentioned in his tweet. It was definitely a high energy performance.
“Best Song Ever” will be featured in One Direction’s upcoming biopic, “This Is Us.” That movie will premiere in theaters on August 30.
