If you sing or play an instrument and haven’t hit the big time; like who has, finding a place to do your thing can sometimes be challenging. The answer is open mic nights. Many communities offer open mic’s at various venues, usually bars or coffee houses.
Perhaps you already go to an open mic or two in your community– but, summer is here and many people hit the road. Well, there goes your open mic. Not necessarily. If you are a cork dork or just love history and beautiful scenery, you may find yourself in Sonoma County at some point during the summer; visiting the wineries, taking in some of the historic spots or enjoying the physical beauty or our coast line, the Russian River and the redwoods.
Well, you’re in luck. Sonoma County is replete with open mic’s that you may drop in on, whether you are a musician/singer or just want to check out the local talent.
The following is a calendar of Sonoma County open mic’s:
Coffee Cats – Sebastopol
A really nice coffee house in the historic Gravenstien Railroad Depot. Open mic begins at 6:00 p.m. all ages welcome.
The Toad in The Hole – Santa Rosa
This is a fun little beer and wine bar is Santa Rosa’s historic Railroad Distric,featuring craft beers, local wines and excellent fish and chips. Open Mic begins at 9:00 p.m. Get there early if you plan on performing to make sure you can get on the sign up sheet.
The Hopmonk – Sebastiano
The Hopmonk is a full service bar and restaurant featuring a large beer garden. Open mic takes place in a separate building called The Abby and begins at 7:00. Your should get there before if you want to perform.
Aubergine’s – Sebastiano
Aubergine’s is a full service bar also serving bar snacks. The bar is inside a large vintage clothing emporium – I kid you not! Open mic begins at 7:00 p.m. but may not be the best venue for travelers who want to perform since you have to sign uup the previous week.
Stout Brothers Pub – Santa Rosa
This is full service bar and restaurant in the Railroad District is in a beautiful and quaint inside. It had been designed to look like an old world English or Irish pub. Open Mic begins at 7:00. Get there early for signup.
Murphy’s Irish Pub – Sonoma
This open mic is held the second Thursday of each month and takes place in The Snug beginning at 7:00 call  935-660 to get on the list. Murphy’s is down a small alley way just behind the Basque Boulanger , just of Sonoma’s Historic Plaza.
