It’s going to be hard to top the birthday present a fan named Charlotte got on her 17th birthday Thursday from Paul McCartney at his concert last night at BOK Center in Tulsa.
According to the BOK Center Twitter account, McCartney gave a birthday shout to the young fan, who’d brought a sign to the show, birthday wishes. “@PaulMcCartney just gave a birthday shout out to a girl in the crowd named Charlotte. Happy 17th Charlotte! Your sign paid off!,” the center Tweeted.
He later dedicated a song to her. “#nowplaying ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ – dedicated to Charlotte, the bday girl in the crowd who turned 17 today! #HappyBirthday,” the center said in a later Tweet.
A day after Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin proclaimed May 29 at Paul McCartney Day in the state, Mayor Dewey Bartlett of Tulsa proclaimed May 30th as “Sir Paul McCartney Day” in the city of Tulsa. The center said streets around the center were temporarily renamed in his honor.
“I just got made an honorary Okie!,” Paul McCartney told the crowd, according to a tweet from @bokcenter.
The center later Tweeted thanks to those who attended the shows. “Thank you so much to everyone for kicking off our 5th Year Celebration with @PaulMcCartney! Both shows were incredible!”
Severe weather had caused some concern about the shows and tickets were available for Thursday’s concert from the center box office yesterday, reported Tulsa World.
