For the second time in three days on Monday, Paul McCartney fans in New York got to see him dig deep into his Beatles and solo catalogs for his show at Barclays Center. And there were the same kind of rave reviews from people we talked to after Monday’s show just as there was two days ago for the first show there last Saturday.
“The show was amazing,” Anna Ulbrik posted on our McCartney Tour News page on Facebook.
“Paul rocked it for over 2 1/2 hours!!,” wrote Carroll Kruger. “Lots of memories. He played some great ones: ‘And I Love Her’, ‘Things We Said Today,’ ‘We Can Work it Out,’ ‘Yesterday,’ and ‘Paperback Writer.’ I liked that he did some lesser known material: ‘Junior’s Farm,’ ‘Hi, Hi, Hi’ and songs he had not done live before like ‘Lovely Rita’ and ‘Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite.’
As has been the custom on this tour, the setlist remained pretty consistent with recent shows. Only “Things We Said Today” and “I Saw Her Standing There,” which replaced “I’ve Just Seen a Face” and “Get Back,” were different from the first New York show two days earlier.
Before the show, Brian Ray (@brianrayguitar) related an interesting story on Twitter.
“I saw a guy propose, third row center at our concert a few shows back.. The couple started making out so hard and long that I though we should just stop and wait til they were done.. She was crying so hard, it was kinda sweet. Good thing it was a ‘yes’. Can’t wait for Brooklyn ll tonight.”
The tour moves to Tennessee for a performance at the Bonnaroo Music Festival June 14, then takes an eight-day break to begin a string of shows in Europe beginning in Warsaw, Poland on June 22.
