Yahoo! Finance reported on July 25, 2013 that Paula Deen the former queen of Food Network has new allegations from the woman Deen called her soul sister Dora Charles.
Charles is the woman that Deen acknowledges in her 2007 memoir “It Ain’t All About the Cookin”.
Deen, 66, in her 2007 memoir is quoted as saying “If I lost Dora, I would have been devastated”.
Charles also says that Deen said, “If it is a Southern dish it better not go out, unless it passes this woman tongue” referring to Charles.
Charles 59 has worked for Deen for 22 years before Deen was a celebrity chef and a household name.
Charles was there from the very beginning when Deen was working out of the Best Western hotel and helped her with all her catering events until she had the money to open The Lady and Sons in Savannah, Ga.
Over the last month Deen has received a lot of scrutiny over her use of the word n—er.
During the past month Deen’s racial slurs and sexual comments made by her and her brother Bubba Heirs of Uncle’s Bubba Seafood and Oysters House in Savannah, Ga. have come to light.
A former employee Lisa Jackson filed a lawsuit against Deen and Heirs for their racial comments and excess use of the n—er word.
Dora currently still works at the Lady and Sons and is nursing a bad shoulder.
Deen’s alleged soul sister Charles breaks her silence on how Deen unfairly treated her and the racial remarks she would say at the restaurant.
Charles claims that Deen made her a deal, which she regrets not putting in writing because Deen never followed through with their deal.
Charles said she didn’t think about doing so because of how close they were at the time, soul sisters as she calls them.
Charles claimed that Deen said “stick with me, Dora and I promise you one day, if I get rich, you’ll get rich.”
Since the alleged promise was made Deen has become very rich and hasn’t honored the said promise to Charles and kept paying her $10 per hour for many years even after being a star on the Food Network.
Charles says she is the one that would approve all the recipes, train cooks and ensure quality food control at Deen’s restaurant.
Charles claims she is telling her side of the story for money, especially not now.
She also says that she is not trying to make Paula look like a bad person she just wants people to know that Deen didn’t treat her fairly as people may have thought since she was her right hand.
Paula with the help of her publicity team offered a statement regarding Charles denying all accusations.
Deen says Charles is speaking out because she wants money, and claims she has given her lots of money through the ups and down of Charles life.
Paula says Dora is an employee that wants more and more despite all the financial support and guidance she has given her over the years.
Deen over the last month was fired from her shows on the Food Network for the use of the word n—er.
After Food Network fired Deen her endorsement from Wal-Mart, Target, Smithfield, and QVC to name a few dropped her products and merchandise.
