Celebrations in and around Houston continue through Saturday as the USA celebrates American Craft Beer Week 2013. Restaurants, taverns, and various organizations tied to the craft beer industry have special events to mark the occasion. Houston’s own Pint Jockeys are also in on the action, with multiple events scheduled toward the end of the week, mainly held in the Galveston area. Here is a quick summary:
Thursday, May 16– From 5 p.m. to 7p.m., craft beer fans are invited to the Monthly Beer Tasting at the Del Papa Distribution Center in Texas City, located at 1220 I-45. This month’s tasting event will feature beer from Conroe’s Southern Star Brewery. On tap will be old and new products including Bombshell Blonde, Pine Belt Pale Ale, Old Potentate, Red Cockaded, and Buried Hatchet Stout. The tasting is free of charge, as always, for those age 21 and older.
Friday, May 17– At 5:45 p.m., the fun begins with the Tom Schwenk Realtor Parade to the Pier. This event takes place in Galveston and starts at 45th and Seawall, ending at the gates to the Galveston Island Pleasure Pier. The event will conclude with live music and other entertainment.
At 10:00 p.m. on Friday, the Pint Jockeys present Beerfoot Brewery Series, featuring a tasting of Southern Star’s Pin Up Pale Ale, brewed at the Beerfoot Beach Bar.
Saturday, May 18– At 2:00 p.m., the entertainment kicks off with the Bathing Beauties Contest, held at 52nd and Seawall in Galveston.
At 6:00 p.m., the Pint Jockeys request your presence at Game Day at the Galvez. This is a vintage baseball game played at Beach Central, 2012 Seawall Blvd. in Galveston.
At 7:30 p.m., the Pint Jockeys conclude American craft week celebrations with Bands and Bombshells Concert. This event will feature The Bellfuries, an Austin swing band, along with Galveston’s Brandon McDermott Band. And as the name of the event suggests, the featured beer of the evening will be Southern Star’s own Bombshell Blonde. This event, like the baseball game beforehand, will take place at Beach Central, 2012 Seawall Blvd.
