ABC’s fun show “Celebrity Wife Swap” is returning for the summer on Sundays. In a network press release on June 6, ABC shared a rundown of what we can expect from the premiere episode which will feature one of the most controversial mother- daughter pairings ever, Melissa and Joan Rivers who will trade places with the daughters of Alaska’s former governor Sarah Palin, Bristol and Willow Palin.
The Palin girls live in Wasilla, Alaska along with Bristol son, Tripp, a four-year-old who runs the house. Melissa Rivers arrives in Wasilla and is shocked to find snow in May. She is also shocked at Tripp’s energy and control over the house. She thinks he needs to follow a set of guidelines every day. It turns out Willow is no help and even puts Tripp up to some of his mischief. Melissa is hell-bent on bringing structure to the Palin home and uses a sticker chart to elicit the behavior she wants from Tripp. She also imposes riles on Willow to help her reach her goal of following her passion into a career one day.
The Rivers women reside in Los Angeles, Calif. with Melissa’s son, Cooper, a twelve year old. The home doubles as the duos television production office and is the set for three different TV shows which are produced there. This means everything is scheduled down to the minute. The home is a constant stream of crewmembers, cameras and other workers and yet the family manages to have a meal together every night. Bristol has a hard time coping with the rigid schedule and formality of the lifestyle. She is expected to step into the role of executive producer for “Fashion Police” and is reluctant to do so. Joan throws a dinner party in Bristol’s honor which doesn’t go the way Bristol imagines and Bristol comes to appreciate life back in Wasilla. Bristol’s goal is to bring some fun into the Rivers’ household.
Later in the season there will be celebrity swaps between the girlfriend and wife of former WWE wrestlers “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper which will air June 30, and actress Nia Peeples will swap lives with singer Tiffany on Sunday, July 7. An additional three episodes will air throughout the summer though the subjects have to be named.
