Forecast discussion: Despite some increasing clouds this afternoon, Providence did see partly cloudy skies and temperatures reach the lower 60’s. A weak disturbance is passing over Southern New England at the moment, so we will see mostly cloudy skies early in the evening, before skies begin to slowly clear. However, more clouds will be moving into Southern New England tomorrow morning.
Due to the clouds being over the area, there is little chance of any frost advisory for this evening. A warm front moving over the northern Great Lakes will bring some warmer air for tomorrow, but it will also bring the chance for some showers by the start of the evening commute. The scattered showers will continue into Wednesday night, as a cold front will pass through. The front will be weak, because warmer air will be moving in right behind the front. Our temperatures on Thursday will reach the upper 70’s in the capital city.
As we move into the weekend, some cooler air from the north will enter the region, and temperatures will slowly fall into the lower 70’s. But, the second half of the weekend appears to be wet. A weak disturbance will stay along the east coast, and slowly move northward. It will bring some showers to Southern New England by Sunday afternoon. Now, the computer models are seeing a scenario that this disturbance actually moves back to the south. So, any showers will end by the evening. But, a warm front from a new low from the west will bring back that weak disturbance, as well as showers, for Monday morning. The low from the west will continue to give us showers right into Tuesday, as showers stay ahead of the cold front. The long range computer models are seeing some agreement on this forecast at this time.
