“Queen of Diamonds” by Spokane-area author Frank Zafiro and Jim Wilsky is available now from Amazon.
“Queen of Diamonds” is the sequel to Wilsky and Zafiro’s hard hitting crime fiction novel “Blood on Blood.” Ania, the femme fatale who came between half-brothers Mick and Jerzy as they searched for missing diamonds, is causing trouble again on the Las Vegas strip. An impulsive decision to visit Sin City soon results in Ania using her feminine wiles on two poker players who are competing for her affection.
On Thursday, May 23, Zafiro posted a synopsis on his blog.
According to Zafiro, “… If you like poker, Texas Hold ‘em style, you’ll dig this book. If you don’t care about poker or understand it, there [are] plenty of other things to keep your attention — a sexy, mysterious blonde, a high strung cop, a Swedish mobster, and a shady security chief are all thrown into the mix.
“… When Ania Kozak hits Vegas, she’s only looking for a place to relax and lay low with her stolen cash and diamonds. But Sin City has other plans for ‘Annie.’
“Cord Needham is a poker circuit champion with an eye for the ladies and a dark secret in his past. Casey Brunnell is a former baseball player fighting the cards and running up debts to a local mobster. When Annie decides to play a dangerous game with both of them, the stakes go through the roof. Everyone scrambles to beat the odds and get out of town with the money…and their lives.”
Crime fiction lovers in the greater Spokane area who enjoyed “Blood on Blood” will appreciate that “Queen of Diamonds” also features two first-person protagonists.
According to Zafiro, ” Jim and I wrote this book with the same dual first person narrative as ‘Blood on Blood’. This gives the reader a chance to get close to the narrating characters, but have a broader perspective than your typical first person novel.”
The book is currently available in a paperback edition featuring a cover by Eric Beetner. Zafiro said it would also be available for Amazon Kindle on May 24.
In an update on their shared blog Hardboiled Partners in Crime, Wilsky added that the book will soon be available from more retailers, such as Barnes and Noble, and in more formats.
According to Wilsky, “It’ll be 99 cents for the ebook, just like ‘Blood on Blood’. It will also be available in paperback and an audio version as well.We really hope you try it when it goes live and if you haven’t read ‘Blood on Blood’ yet, well now is the perfect time for a one two punch.”
Update: The Kindle edition of “Queen of Diamonds” currently retails for $2.99.
