Ronnie Negus, philanthropist and stunning cast member of “The Real Housewives of Vancouver” knows first hand the support B.C. Children’s Hospital can provide. As the mother of a special needs child she was happy to lend her celebrity status to raise awareness, and funds for the hospital. In early 2011, her daughter Remy experienced a traumatic near-death experience. When the Alden Rae team (Miriam Alden and Donni Rae Edmondson) heard Ronnie and Remy’s story they were inspired to create a wrap bracelet in honor of her strength, and as a way to give back to BC Children’s Hospital, which had been a huge part of Remy’s life since birth.
Remy chose the black/navy wrap bracelet from Alden Rae’s Crystal Collection featuring a charm (hand picked by Remy) to signify her courage throughout her journey since birth. A second silver plated bracelet was inspired by Ronnie that features a quote with meaning to Ronnie, Remy and their family –“dum vita est, spes est.” – translating to “while there is life, there is hope”. This Latin saying resonates with Ronnie’s commitment to helping children everywhere.
The beautiful Remy bracelet was unveiled at an exclusive party attended by the cities ‘who’s who’ including fellow Real Vancouver Housewife Reiko MacKenzie at HOUSExGUEST . Guests were treated to swag bags, champagne and delicious hors d’oeuvres. Silent auction items ranging from spa packages to bikinis were also set out along the perimeter for guests to place their bids on.
After the event Ronnie stated “I was overwhelmed at the turn out. It was better than I could have expected. Very well done. I sincerely appreciate all the hard work that Alden Rae has put into the event, creating the bracelet and dedicating it to Remy.” She reflected on her daughter saying “Remy has taught me so much about the true meanings in life, patience, humility, compassion, hope, love, and the fragility of life itself. She has been one of my greatest teachers and I am eternally grateful. We are happy that we can pass this feeling on to others by them purchasing and wearing Remy’s Bracelet.”
The philanthropist says she is “thrilled that the donations are going to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. They have been a part of Remy’s life since her premature birth and have supported our family since the first day of her life. It is a wonderful way to be able to give back to such a wonderful organization.”
After the event Stacey Kahn, Philanthropy Officer, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation stated “It was an extraordinary event!. The Foundation is so grateful to Miriam and Donnie of Alden Ray Jewelry for allowing us to be a part of this wonderful program and to Ronnie and her family for being courageous in telling their story to help raise awareness for BC Children’s Hospital” .
