Psalm 38:8 (AMP) “I am faint and sorely bruised [deadly cold and quite worn out]; I groan by reason of the disquiet and moaning of my heart.”
Those who have had any type of deep wound, be it from some type of accident or surgery may know something about scar tissue. Scar tissue develops after the healing of a deep abrasion by connective tissue that becomes dense and fibrous. Sometimes this scar tissue can become a problem and may need to be removed.
A friend with ongoing health issues explained to me that even though the original condition has improved, the greatest struggle they have is with scar tissue. Because it’s dense and fibrous it can actually hinder healing or create a whole new set of problems. I began to think of the many changes in life and the hurts we go through. Broken relationships, death of loved ones, betrayal of a friend, bullying, etc.; the list goes on. What scar tissues have developed in each of our lives that interfere with our success? Are we even aware that they exist?
Could our decisions be based on or hindered by scar tissue lurking in our hearts? And if this is the case, how can it be removed? The first step is to take a reality check about our lives and what we’ve gone through. We all have deep disappoints lodged in our memories that jump out at us in different situations. Affecting or interfering with important decisions; sometimes causing regret or disappointment.
When Jesus began to preach and do miracles among the people, it made the religious leaders and others angry. They refused to accept Him through eyes of love because they couldn’t see Him through the scar tissue of life. Sometimes we are too afraid to believe that we can be loved, because of rejection. Afraid to believe we can be used because of past failures. Afraid because we’ve been deceived to believe there is no hope.
But there is hope and His name is Jesus Christ. Psalm 147:3(AMP) He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows]. He came to heal the brokenhearted, to set the captives free, to bring sight to the blind and set at liberty those were are bruised. His mandate for all of us who believe is to share this good news to a lost and hurting world. To show His love and apply His word everyday for every situation we go through. We are beautiful in His eyes; He loves us and has an amazing future for our lives. All we have to do is let Him remove the scar tissues of life from the depths of our souls so we can LIVE! So we can be free to be the best He’s made us to be.
Father God, remove the scar tissue in our lives that hinder Your love from flowing through us. Soak us with Your healing power and fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Guide us through our days and give us clarity and sound minds. Fill us with Your joy and teach us how to rest and rely on Your love every day. Create in us a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within us. In Jesus name! Amen. †
