A series of circumstances are gradually emerging that strongly suggest that the Republican Party is in danger of imploding, of destroying itself from the inside.
The proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back was Marco Rubio’s push to pass the new amnesty bill in the U.S. Senate. Radio host and attorney Hugh Hewitt discovered that the bill was actually written by the staff of Chuck Schumer, the ultra liberal Democrat from New York.
It is a well known fact among true conservatives who also happen to be attorneys that Schumer is one of the most diabolical members of Congress — and one of the smartest. The bill passed this week by the Senate that grants amnesty to millions of illegal aliens is the brain child of Schumer. And it is very telling that some of the most well-known Republicans in the Senate supported it whole heartedly, such as McCain, Graham, Rubio, Ayotte, Alexander, Corker, Collins, Murkowski, and others who have been designated as part of the GOP elitist establishment.
But Rubio was a Tea Party backed candidate. So was Ayotte. And already they have betrayed the values associated with the Tea Party.
Further, it has not helped Republicans to hear the news that one of their favored potential presidential candidates for 2016, Jeb Bush, will present the Liberty Medal to Hillary Clinton. Such actions only seal and confirm in the minds of conservatives the suspicion that the country needs another Bush like it needs a hole in the head. And it needs another Clinton about as much as it needs two holes in the head.
The rank eastern establishment elitism represented by these two political dynasties is anathema to conservatives. It is well past time to move on.
Such betrayals are adding up, pushing some conservatives straight over the edge and out of the Republican Party for good.
Sarah Palin has openly expressed her willingness to consider leaving the Party over issues such as the immigration bill. Conservative radio talk show host and attorney Mark Levin has been blasting Republicans of late as much as he has Democrats. And on social networking sites conservatives are increasingly urging well known Republicans such as Palin and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, to consider leaving the Party in order to form a massive new conservative coalition that will include the Tea Party.
Critics of such an idea unanimously parrot the common mantra that such actions will only insure “Democrat rule for another 20 years,” meaning that to hasten the demise of the Republican Party to launch a new conservative coalition would only help Democrats.
But how can any conservative come close to helping Democrats any more than for Jeb Bush to give a Medal to Hillary Clinton? How could they insure 20 more years of Democrat rule any more than Marco Rubio has by advocating amnesty for millions of illegal aliens who most assuredly will vote for Democrats? And how can conservative citizens possibly help Barack Obama and his minions any more than Gov. Chris Christie’s overt support for Obamacare?
The Party already helps Democrats by adopting their programs and enacting legislation that will eventually insure massive Democrat majorities in the Congress and in state legislatures around the country, including conservative states such as Texas that are most vulnerable to the onslaught of illegal aliens.
The bottom line is this: either the Republican Party hunkers down to purge its ranks of faux conservatives or there will be millions who will never vote for their candidates again. This writer, for one, will never again allow my vote to aid and abet betrayers such as Graham and his allies in the Senate.
And since Jim DeMint has left elected politics to head the Heritage Foundation, I have nothing keeping me in the Republican fold. Against my heated protests, the Republicans chose two RINOS in a row to head the presidential ticket, McCain in 2008 and Romney in 2012.
Never again will I allow myself to be snookered into voting for RINOS by those who make the threat that “if you don’t vote for them you are helping Democrats.” I beg to disagree. Nobody could help Democrats any more than the likes of McCain, Graham, Rubio, Romney, Christie, and company.
So go find you another sucker to snooker.
