On Sunday night’s episode of “Restaurant: Impossible,” Robert Irvine traveled to Smyrna, Del. to meet with owner Patty Gallegos to help with this family restaurant in this episode titled “Muskrat Mayhem.” Patty lost her husband Norm, about six years ago and the “Wagon Wheel Family Restaurant” has been falling apart since then.
Robert met with Patty and her daughter to get down to the root of the problem. The staff is always late and there is no structure here since Norm passed away. As Robert observed a service, he was dismayed to see that nobody cared about their job at the place. The tables are not numbered, and much food was wasted. Subsequently, Robert found out that they serve muskrat, which is road kill. Then Robert found out that Patty and her daughter, Shelia have a lot of animosity between them.
Robert tried the food and even the muskrat, that he spat out immediately. When he called the chefs to observe what he ordered, they agreed that they would not pay good money for the food they cooked.
Lynn came in to meet with Robert to get an idea of how to do the restaurant over. Tom and the staff removed everything from the place to start the renovation.
Robert met with Patty and her granddaughter to find out what the problems were. When Sheila found out about the meeting, she was annoyed, but Robert reminded her that she walked out of the restaurant earlier.
On the next day, Robert returned to fix both the restaurant and the family. The renovations have been coming along well, but will he make headway on the family? In the kitchen, Robert met with Chip, the new cook and Patty. Josh was already an hour and a half late. Patty’s daughter complained that she was not appreciated by her mother and retaliated by showing up late or not even showing up at all. Robert found out that they had never sat and talked in all the years in the restaurant. Now Sheila has renewed her commitment to her mother and the restaurant. When Josh finally arrived, the rules were set in place, and he quit the restaurant. Chip was given a challenge to make a great meal for Robert in thirty minutes. He made a great dish and now will be in command of the kitchen. The other cook, Shawn was there for the lessons Robert gave the kitchen staff and loved the dishes Robert made.
Next were the pros and cons of why to keep muskrat on the menu. Patty is determined to keep it, but on the opening night, Robert got his way to leave it off.
When Patty, Shelia and Jessica saw the new restaurant, they could not believe their eyes. It was fresh and modern and so welcoming. Lynn and Tom were there to share the praise with Robert, and the family was a family once again.
The customers were waiting outside and loved the new interior. The kitchen staff was busy, and the food was praiseworthy. Now that they are going to serve dinner along with breakfast and lunch, they should be out of debt in no time, thanks to Robert and his crew of “Restaurant: Impossible.”
At the end of each show, Robert tells viewers to check his link to see how the restaurant is doing since his visit. Feel free to add your comments, especially if you have visited the restaurant.
