Rhino Records officially announced Thursday the upcoming release of the deluxe version of “The Monkees Present.”
The set, available through its Rhino Handmade division that sells limited collectible releases, will be three CDs with 85 tracks, 60 of them unreleased. “Present” will also include alternate versions, backing tracks and outtakes and ship in July. Two other Handmade releases, “Head” and “Instant Replay,” are also available again on the website.
Also in the set is a 7” bonus vinyl single for “Good Clean Fun (Alternate Mix)” b/w “Mommy and Daddy (Mono Mix)” in a picture sleeve. The set, which will cost $59.98, can be pre-ordered from Monkees.com.
“Present” was last album to feature Michael Nesmith until “Justus.” But his exit album included one of the band’s best known songs, the single “Listen to the Band,” which he wrote.
A remastered single CD of the album with bonus tracks was issued in 2011.
The original album tracklist: Side 1: “Little Girl” (Micky Dolenz), “Good Clean Fun” (Michael Nesmith), “If I Knew” (Bill Chadwick/David Jones), “Bye Bye Baby Bye Bye” (Micky Dolenz/Ric Klein), “Never Tell A Woman Yes” (Michael Nesmith), “Looking For The Good Times” (Tommy Boyce/Bobby Hart). Side 2: “Ladies Aid Society” (Tommy Boyce/Bobby Hart), “Listen To The Band” (Michael Nesmith), “French Song” (Bill Chadwick), “Mommy and Daddy” (Micky Dolenz), “Oklahoma Backroom Dancer” (Michael Martin Murphey), “Pillow Time” (Janelle Scott/Matt Willis).
