Serial killer and rapist Richard Ramirez is dead at the age of 53. TMZ reported on Friday, June 7 that Ramirez was convicted of killing 13 people in Los Angeles in the mid 80s, died at the Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae, California on the morning of June 7, 2013.
Ramirez was found dead in his death row cell at San Quentin prison. Conflicting reports on Ramirez’s death state that he died from natural causes, while other claim he died from Hepatitis C.
Richard Ramirez was found guilty and sentenced to death in 1989 after murdering at least 13 people after he climbed into the windows of homes. He was also found guilty of committing at least 11 sexual assaults.
Ramirez has spent more than two decades on San Quentin’s death row attempting to file numerous appeals.
A representative of the San Quentin prison stated that Richard Ramirez died of natural causes, but TMZ claims a prison guard claims that Ramirez died from Hep C, which doctors say can be transmitted through sexual contact. Hep C is known to be contracted through IV drug use and blood transfusions.
Richard the “Night Stalker” Ramirez killed his victims who’s ages ranged anywhere from 9-years-old to 83.
Police located Richard Ramirez after they were able to identify him by a fingerprint. The police released Ramirez’s mug shot and he was picked up a couple of days later after a mob of angry people in East L.A. located him attempting to steal a car, and began beating Ramirez.
The “Night Stalker” Richard Ramirez faced the judge in court and proudly displayed his palm which had been tattooed with the image of a pentagram on it.
The cause of Richard Ramirez’s death is pending an investigation.
