Yesterday in a released statement, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus called on U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to resign after the revelation that he allowed the Justice Department to monitor Associated Press reporters’ phone conversations in a direct violation of the First Amendment.
“Freedom of the press is an essential right in a free society, “Priebus said. “The First Amendment doesn’t request the federal government to respect it; it demands it. Attorney General Eric Holder, in permitting the Justice Department to issue secret subpoenas to spy on Associated Press reporters, has trampled on the First Amendment and failed in his sworn duty to uphold the Constitution. Because Attorney General Holder has so egregiously violated the public trust, the president should ask for his immediate resignation.”
The illegal monitoring of the AP’s reporter’s phone conversations is the latest scandal to hit the Obama administration.
The other two scandals involve the IRS who scrutinized Tea Party and conservative organization’s tax status during the 2012 presidential election season and the fallout of the terrorists attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya in which four Americans died, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and that Obama ignored the attacks.
Now that three major scandals have rocked the Obama administration, calls for impeachment are rising.
While mainstream Democrats and liberals are wasting no time in making excuses and protecting Obama, calls from ordinary citizens to columnists are saying that this time, impeachment must occur.
Tim Dunkin of the Canada Free Press said today, ”Many Americans—often apolitical, or perhaps even leaning towards Obama and his ideology—are finally starting to see the Obama administration for what it really is: the most corrupt, deceitful, scandal-ridden presidential administration since Harding’s. I’m sure, however, that the more radical and partisan Democrats and left-wingers out there will try to argue that it’s much ado about nothing, that the Rethuglicans are just trying to stir up a tempest in a Teapot Dome.”
“Regardless of what the left-wing fringe thinks, recent revelations—as well as things that some of us have known about for years but which the media kept hidden from the general public—clearly indicate that the current administration, from top to bottom, cannot be allowed to continue in office. The level of corruption is astounding, even beyond what most conservative opponents of Obama thought would be possible. The only solution to what we’re seeing in Washington DC is to impeach, “said Dunkin.
Whether or not the impeachment process will begin, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus had this to say if Obama does not force the resignation of Holder.
“If President Obama does not, the message will be unmistakable: The President of the United States believes his administration is above the Constitution and does not respect the role of a free press.”
