Romance is always in the air at the Four Seasons Resort Maui, the ‘home away from home’ for many celebrities and well-heeled Los Angeles Westsiders (Beverly Hills to the Palisades). Of course children are welcome, but this place provides such a spectacularly romantic getaway for couples, and to prove it the resort is going all out from September 1 through November offering a sea of mostly free activities designed for lovers.
You LA Travel Diva Examiner and Richard have enjoyed many special occasions (birthdays and anniversaries) there ensconced in our favorite suite on the Club Floor that offers a sweeping view of the impeccably manicured grounds that spill out to the Pacific Ocean. One of the best perks of the hotel, the Club Floor, although it costs a few bucks extra, comes with a gorgeous lounge where guests can enjoy continental breakfasts, drinks (spirits, wine, Champagne), chef specialty snacks and hors d’oeuvres that are so good you have to be careful not to ruin your appetite for dinner a Duo, the on-property restaurant that rates as one of the best on the island. The staff in the Club Lounge are like little Hawaiian angels going out of their way to please.
There’s so much to do at the hotel from free rooftop tennis for which you have to reserve a court and after you do they will provide cold towels and water. There’s a super spa with some of the best massages and facials in the islands (couples can be rubbed side-by-side in a cabana by the sea).
And starting in the resort is providing more than 20 activities designed for couples of all ages and most of them for free. According to an announcement sent to this Examiner by the Four Seasons, the menu of diversions features adventures, active and indulgent possibilities all arranged by the helpful concierge staff.
Some things to do together include snorkeling, hiking through the enchanting bamboo forest, hitting the water with an expert outrigger canoe guide, paddle boarding—one of Maui’s most popular sports—or kayaking at the scenic south shore. You can also learn to cook together under the guidance of Master Executive Chef Roger Stettler. Learn to fix cocktails, enjoy craft beer tastings on Thursday through Saturday in September, and of course enjoy romantic al fresco dinners at the hotel’s restaurants (Duo, Spago (yes that’s Wolfgang Puck’s creation) and Ferraro’s Bar e Ristorante).
