Sam: “Should’ve known this would happen. Your first shift back, and I’m already being shot at.”
Andy: “You missed me, didn’t you?”

It’s Andy and Nick’s first shift back. Nick doesn’t really see any action, well aside from the brief stint at the hospital. It would be great to see Andy and Nick working together to see how different they are together after being undercover together for six months. What viewers do get to see this shift is more of Sam in detective mode and a little bit more of Marlo Cruz. It’s hard to get a real sense of Marlo, but she seems to be a by the book cop. The case ends up mirroring Andy and Sam’s relationship, which is always great because it allows the viewers to see moments of Andy and Sam reflecting, even if they aren’t saying anything. What did you think of Andy’s first shift back?
Dov and Chris attempt to help an Italian woman named Francesca, and it doesn’t go well, mainly because Francesca only speaks Italian. This storyline is funny and humorous, but it goes on a bit too long. Suddenly there is this feeling that maybe this storyline will turn into something more, but it doesn’t. She ends up tagging along in the back of their squad car as they encounter a dangerous situation, and then that’s all the viewers see of her. Apparently Dov drove her to her hostel, and there still isn’t any update on who stole her passport. It just feels unfinished and rushed. Maybe if the storyline ended with Dov and Chris handing her over to 27, where they have an officer who speaks Italian, it all would have flowed better. Did you enjoy all the Francesca drama?
There’s a lot of relationship drama going on in this episode, some of it is good, and some is not so good. Frank and Noelle get engaged. Dov breaks his vow of celibacy with a very forward girl named Chloe. Gail and Nick have an interesting relationship, well any relationship with Gail is slightly unusual. They are just fun to watch, whether it is Gail being mad at him or them being happy. They are entertaining, and Nick helps make Gail enjoyable even when she is mad. Sam and Andy have a talk about what went wrong in their relationship, and it’s great that they have this. It provides some clarity on their very confusing relationship dynamic. While things are awkward at work, it’s nice that the writers haven’t made it unbearable to watch. Sam and Andy can still joke around and have great chemistry. What did you think of all the relationship happenings?
