If you’re a fan of the Sandstorm troika-style ride at Busch Gardens Tampa, you’d better get one last ride by Sunday, June 2. After that date, the ride, which has been in the park since 1979, will be retired to make way for an all-new attraction.
Sandstorm, in the Timbuktu area, opened in December of 1979 and has offered mild thrills ever since. Now, a new attraction will a much higher thrill level is set to take its place (and “higher” is literal as well as figurative if the rampant rumors that the new ride is a drop tower are true).
Want to know for certain what the latest addition to Busch Gardens Tampa will be? The park has the big announcement set for June 11. Follow me on Twitter via @themeparkwriter for live updates on that day.
In the meantime, the park has another new offering that debuted a few weeks ago. Madagascar Live! Operation: Vacation is a live show in the Stanleyville Theater that features Alex, Gloria, the penguins, King Julien and Mort live on stage, accompanied by dancers and a band. The show runs all summer long, and even though it’s aimed primarily at kids, it’s fun for the whole family.
Check out the video of the Madagascar characters performing toward the bottom of this article, and follow this link for an article with video excepts of the band and dancers.
