President Barack Hussein Obama made headlines on Tuesday when he announced he would be by-passing Congress in order to put into effect his “Climate Change Plan”, which is designed to “cut carbon pollution”, among other things. But, as CNS News reported on Thursday, not everybody is thrilled about the president’s proposed plan. Sen. Joe Manchin, who is a Democrat from the state of West Virginia, spoke out against what he sees are the president’s unreasonable regulatory methods. During an interview on Fox News, Sen. Manchin made it clear that Obama has “declared war on America.”
“Well, really, a war on America. When you look at it from that stand point. 8 billion tons of coal is being burned in the world, as we speak. The United States of America consumes about 1 billion tons. Now, what’s going to happen to the other 7 billion tons? What’s going to happen to the countries that are consuming and using 7 billion, and it’s increasing rapidly? Nothing’s being done there.”
Sen. Manchin went on to explain that the United States has done more than any other country in the world to help protect the environment in the past two decades. The problems, as he says, is that while there is new technology that can help tremendously, the standards that are being set in place are simply unattainable.
“The president is looking at some scientists, or whoever is advising him, trying to meet standards that haven’t even been perfected because the government hasn’t worked with the private industry to perfect the technologies.”
Facing the challenges brought upon by these unreasonable standards and the technology that isn’t quite caught up, the senator then concludes:
“So you know what they do? Nothing!”
The senator was then asked to rate (on a scale from 1 to 10) the level of anger he is experiencing as a result of the president’s heavy-handed policy plans. The senator didn’t offer a specific, numerical value. He simply said, “I don’t think you have that scale.”
But he went on to finish by saying quite boldly:
“Well, it’s just ridiculous. This is just ridiculous. I should not have to be sitting here as a U. S. senator fighting my own president, fighting my own government. That’s ridiculous. I want to work with him. I’ve reached out. I will continue to reach out, but I need a partner here. I don’t need an adversary.”
The president’s ambitious plans regarding “climate change” (which, for some reason replaced the once-popular term “global warming”) seems to fall right in line with what the Resisting the Green Dragon movement warned about a few years back.
On its website, Resisting the Green Dragon, the so-called “green policies” implemented by our government appear to merely be a means to an end. The expressed, political message is the protection of the environment, but as the Resisting the Green Dragon movement warns, there is an unspoken, hidden agenda, which is rooted in a desire for greater economic and political control on a global scale.
“In what has become one of the greatest deceptions of our day, radical environmentalism is striving to put America and the world under its destructive control. This so-called ‘Green Dragon’ is seducing your children in our classrooms and popular culture. It’s lust for political power now extends to the highest global levels…and its twisted view of the world elevates nature above the needs of people, of even the poorest and the most helpless.”
Dr. James Tonkowich, Senior Fellow at the Cornwall Alliance, touches upon some of the methods that are being used to convince the masses regarding the care of the environment, which includes fear-mongering. During his speech, for example, President Obama kept emphasizing an urgent need to act now.
“The question is not whether we need to act. The question is whether we will have the courage to act before it’s too late,” said Obama. [Speech transcripts)
Appealing to the young audience of Georgetown University, he also warned, “I refuse to condemn your generation and future generations to a planet that’s beyond fixing.”
But, as Dr. Tonkowich warns:
“Fear-mongering is simply a way of obtaining power. Whoever controls the environmental regulations, controls the economy and controls the population.”
Is Sen. Manchin correct? Is our own president declaring war on America? If so, why?

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.” – Romans 1:20-23
