NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 19, 2013 – Shania Twain and Taylor Swift stunned on the illustrious red carpet at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. Honoring the biggest and brightest artists in the industry, the musical extravaganza promises to be the most electrifying performance show this year has to offer. Swift, riding high off the multi-platinum success of Red, goes into the night with a whopping 11 nominations, including Top Artist.
The Las Vegas show will air on ABC at 8 ET, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Tracy Morgan will be hosting.
Also on the red carpet, The Band Perry, Florida Georgia Line, Kacey Musgraves, Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles donned their best attire to show off for the cameras.
In addition to her nominations, Swift will take the stage for a highly anticipated performance of her current pop hit “22,” a feel good anthem about being young and reckless.
Twain is on the long list of presenters for the night’s festivities. Miley Cyrus, PSY, Ke$ha and Nashville star Hayden Panettiere will present honors, as well.
Bruno Mars, Miguel, Justin Bieber, Pitbull, Christina Aguilera, Selena Gomez, The Band Perry, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Musgraves and Prince are also slated to perform throughout the night.
Among her nominations, Swift is up for the Top Artist prize of the night, facing off against worthy opponent Maroon 5 (“Payphone,” “One More Night,” “Daylight”), who also has 11 nods. Fun. achieved their first No. 1 hit with “We Are Young” in 2012 and rounds out the top tier of nominations with 11 of their own, including in the Top Hot 100 Artist and Top Duo/Group categories.
Additionally, Swift is a Top 3 finalist for this year’s Milestone Award. Fans can continue to vote for her until the day of the show. Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars joins the “Trouble” singer in this elite category.
Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” landed a nod in Top Country Song, while Red shifted a slot in Top Country Album.
The finalists tally was determined from a combination of key fan interaction with music, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, touring, streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, VEVO, Spotify and other online music services.
