The Waterfront & 678 Ocean Place
The Waterfront & 678 Ocean Place has a total of 17 dining venues and 12 bars and lounges, creating a whole new complex at sea. The Waterfront is a oceanfront boardwalk that has eight outdoor dining and lounging options as well as bars and shops. Here passengers will find many of NCL’s signature favorites such as Cagney’s Steakhouse, La Cucina, Shaker’s Cocktail Bar, the Malting’s Beer & Whiskey Bar, and one of the newest additions ‘Ocean Blu’ the first all-seafood restaurant that has a raw and sushi bar.
678 Ocean Place is reminiscent of a private New York City supper club, it intertwines and connects three decks of day and night time amusements where one of the restaurants has as it’s focal point a dance floor and another which has two stories with floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.
The Aqua Park & slides
The Aqua Park with it’s five multi-story water slides, which includes twin free fall slides, is located 17 decks above the sea. The fun here includes two swimming pools, four hot tubs, a twisted thrill – the-Whip – which is two racing side-by-side slides that give that extra rush. One of two drop slides rapidly plunges occupants, feet first.
Located on Deck 17 it has all one needs for a day of fun in the sun, from sunscreen, to poolside loungers, to a bar and grill, this is the place to be.
Carlos Bake Shop
Carlos Bake Shop, the product of Master Baker Buddy Valastro, who is also the star of the popular TLC television series “Cake Boss” and the “Next Great Baker,” is now one of the popular venues on Breakaway. Here guests can purchase the same delicious treats and confections that the original bakery is known for. Passengers can pre order goodies for celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, or take a class where they will learn how to decorate cupcakes along with some of the ‘tricks of the trade’.
The three-story Sports complex is where one burns off those newly acquired calories while indulging in some daring activities – do a few flips on the bungee trampoline; take the challenge on the largest-at-sea rope course; climb the rock wall; try the Spider Web, a 24-foot enclosed climbing cage which has a spiral slide; or attempt the ultimate thrill on the Plank that extends 8- feet over the side of the ship. For the less daring there are traditional activities such as a game on the basketball court or perfecting one’s putt on the 9-hole golf course.
