Tuesday was nothing short of a near perfect day as bright sunshine and low humidity prevailed. Afternoon temperatures managed to reach or exceed 80 degrees for many of you and it was an all around great day to be outdoors. Much can be said for Wednesday’s weather as we close the book on the month of July. It will certainly end with a couple days of spectacular weather.
The high pressure system that is supplying the area with the fair skies and low humidity will begin to shift offshore and this will turn winds southwest and nudge the afternoon temperatures a few degrees higher from those of Tuesday. We have one more day of low humidity as well with sunny skies. During the overnight clouds will begin to filter in and these will be the forerunners of our next weather maker for late Thursday into Friday.
Thursday will start out with partly sunny skies but by later in the day there is a chance of a few showers breaking out as a cold front approaches western Massachusetts. Southerly winds ahead of the front will drive more humid air into the area. As the front closes in on our area the showers may turn to a steady rain with a few embedded thunderstorms and some locally heavy rain possible. Most of the precipitation activity is expected overnight into early Friday morning, before the front slides eastward. During Friday the skies will improve and we break out with periods of sunshine in the afternoon, however a spot shower or storm is still possible later in the afternoon and evening.
The start of next weekend should be generally partly cloudy with the chance of an afternoon shower.
Through this period the temperatures will run slightly lower than average. Wednesday will likely be the warmest day of this four day period with seasonally warm temperatures. There is no heat wave in the immediate future as we begin the final full month of summer.
