Electronic Arts revealed a projected release window for the highly anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront for the PS4, Xbox One and PC during a shareholder’s meeting Wednesday.
Star Wars: Battlefront will “most likely” be released during the summer of 2015 according to EA CFO Blake Jorgensen. Not so coincidentally, that’s also when the first new Star Wars movie is expected to be released.
The mega-publisher first announced the game during its E3 press conference in June where Battelfield 4 developer, DICE, was also confirmed to be the developer.
Electronic Arts picked up the rights to create Star Wars games following Disney’s acquisition of LucasFilm (and thus, LucasArts) in 2012. During the deal announcement, DICE, BioWare and Visceral Games were all revealed to be working on different games under the Star Wars license with many expecting DICE to reboot the Battlefront series. It apparently took some begging from DICE’s Karl Magnus Troedsson and Patrick Bach to hand the game over to them though.
The Xbox One will launch this November while the PS4 is confirmed only for a holiday 2013 release currently.
