The Sugar Land Skeeters could not overcome the bats of the Lancaster Barnstormers; dropping a hard fought contest by the score of 5-2 in the Houston suburb of Sugar Land, Texas on Tuesday evening, July 30, 2013.
The Barnstormers connected for three runs in the second inning and another two in the fourth to score their 50th win of the season.
Sugar Land could only manage two runs in the seventh inning, scoring Adam Godwin and Jeff Dominguez.
Both teams used four pitchers; with Lancaster starter Dwayne Pollok getting his 12th win of the season.
Skeeters’ starting pitcher Roy Corcoran, who was a last-minute replacement for listed starter Gilbert De La Vara, received his second loss of the season.
Corcoran was sent to the mound top begin the game when manager Gary Gaetti pulled De La Vara from the starting lineup.
Jason Urquidez, pitching one inning of relief, got his 23th save of the season
No reason was give for the change.
Sugar Land managed only five hits in the game, as opposed to 11 for the Barnstormers.
On Wednesday, the four-game series will continue with game three series.
First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT at Constellation Field in Sugar Land.
