Some details have been revealed in regards to the camera zoom distance of the upcoming Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS title, “Super Smash Bros. 4.” According to a report by Siliconera on July 29, the camera in the sequel should work in the same way as the previous installments.
Depending on the stage size and amount of characters on screen, the camera can either be up-close or far away. For example, it will be pulled as far back as possible if two characters are on the opposite ends of the level.
The camera zoom distance may be a problem for the Nintendo 3DS version of “Super Smash Bros. 4.” The Nintendo Wii U version features high-definition resolutions and textures, which should help differentiate fighters on the big screen. The resolution and screen size is much smaller for the handheld port, however, possibly making it hard to spot your character during hectic four-player battles that is taking place on opposite sides of the stage.
The development teams have already took some steps in trying to solve the potential visual issues. The Nintendo 3DS version has added black outlines to the character models to better distinguish them from the background.
