Masahiro Sakurai has provided some details regarding the impact-launch feature from “Super Smash Bros. 4” on the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. According to his post from the official Nintendo website on July 26, the game director confirmed that they have made several improvements to that particular element of the crossover fighting game.
Masahiro Sakurai disclosed that the effect of the impact-launch has been powered up in “Super Smash Bros. 4” when compare to the previous installments of the series. The characters on screen have been assigned to a distinct color (for example, Link is green while Samus is red). As a result, launching your opponent off the stage would look like a color-coded comet. You can check out a screen of the improved impact-launch feature (along with some other shots) in the slideshow on top of this article as well as the comments from Masahiro Sakurai below (courtesy of Nintendo.net):
The impact-launch effect has been powered up. The assigned color makes it clear which player will get points in the event of a KO.
In order to defeat your opponents in “Super Smash Bros. 4,” you have to knock them completely off of the stage. The action in the crossover fighting game series is fast-paced and the camera often pans out to accommodate for four-player matches. As a result, it is often hard to distinguish one character from the other. The improved impact-launch feature should provide better visibility to players.
