The annual Trash Film Orgy Film Festival returns with a vengeance on July 13th. The film festival celebrates the idea of the midnight movie concept wherein fans were treated to movies that sometimes were not appreciated by general film goers at the time of their original release. Many of these unique films that many deemed to be controversial received a second lease on life when they were shown by maverick theater owners at midnight. It is with this intent and spirit that the filmmakers of Trash Film Orgy Productions present their annual film festival at the Crest Theater in Sacramento, California.
Trash Film Orgy Productions is a Sacramento, California based film company specializing in the production of wonderfully imaginative and playfully exploitative films. The catalog of films they have made include, Planet of the Vampire Women, Monster From Bikini Beach and their upcoming action adventure film, Badass Monster Killer. The production company is unabashedly in love with Horror, Fantasy and Science Fiction themes and their films and the festival shamelessly display their zeal.
The festival begins with the annual Zombie Walk. Trash Film Productions were the originators of this concept when the first walk was conceived in the year, 2001. Since that time-the concept has ignited the world’s collective imagination and seemingly at any given moment you may run across a mob shambling down a street moaning and groaning to arrive at a destination.
Participants can receive a zombie make-over by the talented special effects make-up artists of Alchemy FX for a small fee, although T.F.O. also suggests that participants arrive in full make-up because there is no guarantee that the effects company will have enough time to apply make-up to all that show up. The make-up and the gathering of participants will begin at 7:00 pacific standard time at the Cheap Thrills store located in the heart of Sacramento. The actual march itself will begin at approximately 9:30 and the destination will be the Crest Theater which will open the doors to the public(dead and living) at approximately 11:00 P.M.
All films in the film festival will be projected on the screen of the theater using actual 35 millimeter film which should also add to the midnight exploitation ambiance that the presenters wish to create. Film fans will also be thrilled to note that a T.F.O. film festival is more than a mere presentation of films on the screen. T.F.O. provides film lovers and attendees with an amazing amount of activities that are created to reflect the film that will be screening that particular night. Past games and shenanigans have included brain tossing, costume contests, audience participation stage shows and much more. Festival attendees can also indulge in alcoholic consumption as there will be a special bar that many feel enhance such an experience.
The film that will be shown on the July 13th is the British horror comedy, Shaun of the Dead. It should be a surrealistic and fascinating experience to watch this film surrounded by individuals that appear to be in various states of decomposition! The rest of the line-up for the festival that runs for a one month and a half include Escape From New York, Friday the 13th and Blood Feast.
As many take pride in attending film festivals that address certain social issues and showcase new talent-those that attend the Trash Film Orgy Film Festival can proudly state that ultimately movies are produced to entertain and few film festivals can claim to guarantee the level of entertainment that the talented people of T.F.O. will provide during the summer of 2013!
