Cleveland Browns safety, T.J. Ward is hosting a celebrity fundraiser for the Cleveland kidnapping victims; Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus on May 31 according to Cleveland.com.
The “T.J. Ward’s Cleveland Cares Celebrity Fundraiser” will be held on Friday, May 31 from 8p.m. local time to midnight at the “House of Blues’ Cambridge room.” Ward will reportedly be accompanied by teammates Joe Haden and Johnson Bademosi as well as some media personalities.
T.J. Ward told reporters that:
“You put yourself in those three young ladies’ shoes, what they’ve been through. It’s hard just to even get back into society so, I just want to help with them especially being from Cleveland. I just want to do anything I can.”
Tickets for the event are $20, and Cleveland.com reports that the proceeds will go to the Cleveland Courage Fund.
Michelle Knight, 32, Amanda Berry, 27, and Gina DeJesus, 23, were all allegedly kidnapped by Ariel Castro, 52, between 2002 and 2004. Castro is suspected of holding the three women captive inside his home while beating, raping, and torturing them. All three women were rescued alive on May 6, and all are reportedly doing well and working to recover from their ordeal.
