The Tampa Bay area fight promoter Ali Tareh was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame as the Muay Thai & MMA Promoter of the Year (2012) during the 20th Annual Martial Arts Achievement Awards celebrating the WHFSC’s 21st Anniversary in America. The World Head of Family Sokeship Council is a worldwide martial arts grandmaster and masters organization. The organization was the first of its kind in America and over the past 21 years it has grown into the worlds largest and the most elite. Ali Tareh started his fight promotion company in 2008 and within four years he gained the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame’s recognition.
“It’s the greatness of an athlete physically and spiritually. An individual who represents the highest ideals in terms of fairness, good sportsmanship, courtesy and genuine humility.” These are the qualities that led a fighter to be called Pahlavon in the Persian culture said Ali Tareh. Pahlavan, the Persian word, means merciful and kind hero, a champion of champions. He explained how to be called Pahlavon is the highest honor an athlete can obtain. It was with this idea in mind that Ali Tareh renamed his company to Pahlavon Promotions. “I care very much about working with schools and fighters who care about sportsmanship, respect, manners and the fundamentals of fighting.” Ali said.
During the ‘Amateur MMA & Muay Thai Kickboxing Events’ held by Pahlavon Promotions in 2012, nearly a dozen of the bouts sanctioned by the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) were championship title fights. The fights ranged from state, regional titles to prestigious USA and World Championship titles. Competitors in the events held by Ali Tareh and Pahlavon Promotions traveled from as far away as Germany, TX, GA and TN to participate in the events.
As the Tampa Bay MMA Examiner, I have attended and covered many of the event held by Pahlavon Promotions. While conducting interviews, photographing fights, observing the crowds and general interactions of those around me I have had many opportunities to gather insight into why the WHFSC would induct Ali Tareh into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame as the Muay Thai and MMA Promoter of the year 2012.
From my perspective the events are fun, well organized, elegant yet family friendly events. The fighters and trainers display good sportsmanship and are (mostly) humble. The matches are entertaining, fairly judged and well matched fights. The athletes and trainers that that participate are highly trained and very serious competitive martial artists. The photographs included in the slideshow are a good representation of the action but they cannot duplicate the event experience.
The next Amateur MMA & Muay Thai Kickboxing Event # 19 is scheduled to be held on August 3rd 2013 in St. Petersburg at the Vinoy Renaissance Hotel.
