Greetings again my friends from my mildly soaked but much cooler corner of our favorite planet. Yes even though I am a big fan of hot weather ( don’t believe me reference back to any recent winter columns), not such a, big fan of the two H’s. Heat and humidity. Now that that little run of weather is over, its on to rockin summer weather and fun.
Before I get too far into this, congrats to the organizers of the Sarah Parsons benefit at Springbrook Gardens. Big day for all the fans of the local music scene. Some of the best bands around gave their time and talents for the show. I really must acknowledge the young people known as Minor Blues and Minor Pop. They were absolutely amazing. To be so young, to have so much talent and passion for music is not only great to see and hear but it does an old dog good to see the future of the local music scene in such capable hands. Congrats to Minor Blues and Minor Pop and their mentor and teacher James Goare. Keep an eye out for the return of the Greater Allen County Blues Society events. I, believe they return in September, but I will let you know for sure.
I had an awesome meal the other day at the American Legion. You don’t have to be a, member to enjoy some great food. They are open to the public for lunch 10-2, Fridays 5-8 @ for breakfast Saturday until noon. They may have the best fried pickles I have ever had and the order is, huge. I also discovered on their menu is one of the biggest burgers around at a price that will blow you away. If you stop for lunch, ask who you need to talk to to see if you are eligible to become a member. Tell them you read about them here.
I was sad to learn that my buddies from Country Mile have decided to make this their “Farewell Tour”. They are all going on to do other stuff, and have decided it was time to pack it up and head on down the, trail and do all the family things and such. Its been great fun and a great run guys and it has been a pleasure to be a small part of it. I will let you know when the final slate of shows begin and when and where the final Country Mile show will be.
Don’t forget you still have time to get your tickets to see Nonpoint live at the Ohio Theatre. Tickets are only $15, its a cool place to go, the new owners and management team are trying really hard to give the area a major league venue and big time shows do let’s support them,ok.
That’s it for now. Remember we can support the local scene, just go to something somewhere. At least that’s what I think.
If ya dig it do it
If ya really dig it
Do it twice
