The first round of dates occurred on Monday (June 3) night’s episode of “The Bachelorette” bringing out all of the bad boys in the fight for Desiree Hartsock, proving that drama isn’t limited to just women.
There was no surprise here when Brooks took the first one-on-one date as anyone could see there was an instant attraction the first time Desiree met the tousled hair bachelor, which of course came with mane tweets from “BachelorNation”.
Better question: Whose hair is worse? #BachelorBenhair or Brooks? #TheBachelorette” @bachelorburnbk
Desiree Hartsock and Brooks celebrated the first “Bachelorette” kiss of the season on top of the Hollywood sign marking the monuments 90th anniversary. However, what was surprising was one of the tweets from “BachelorNation” on gender roles.
You can’t watch #thebachelorette & not consider American culture’s adherence to gender roles. Like Brooks driving instead of Des. @1chicklette
They weren’t adhering to gender roles; Desiree drove her baby blue Bentley on their one-on-one date. He may have mentioned taking the wheel, but Hartsock wasn’t having it.
“The Bachelorette’s” first group date brought out the cat fighting when 14 men and Desiree Hartsock made a rap video with Soulja Boy titled, “For the Right Reasons”. “The Bachelorette” wanted to see if the bachelors could have fun and be playful, thankfully she wasn’t looking for rapping or dancing skills. However, the group date started the game and Ben is in it to win it, regardless of whom he cuts off in the process.
Mikey didn’t like Ben’s politicking and developed negative feelings towards the bachelor after Ben swooped in to steal Desiree away. Mikey went to talk to him immediately to discuss his annoyance, but that didn’t stop Ben from doing it again, this time to Michael G. at the rose ceremony while he was telling Hartsock about his illness. Tension is high between Mikey, Ben and Michael G., with next week’s previews showing some type of brawl and a girlfriend who shows up to confront one of the bachelor contestants.
As is typical, Desiree did have to send home three bachelors on her journey for love and for the first rose ceremony she let go Will, Robert and Nick M. The poor boys were feeling quite rejected as they drove away in their limo.
“The Bachelorette”, Desiree Hartsock, and all of her bad boys can be seen Monday evenings on ABC.
