The Bible tells us that it is coming. George Orwell wrote a book about it called “1984”, and now we see it happening around the world.
The one city to attempt to control the lives and activities of its citizens in this country that has gone almost unnoticed by its citizens and the press is Chicago, the windy city.
The wind in Chicago is natural of course, but the politicians there seem only to add additional gusts because of their political blabber. They, the politicians, approved the installation of many Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras which they are now linking together so they can spy on their citizenry at will.
In reality, the citizens of this country are blind to the fact of what is going on around them, i.e., CCTV cameras, while the government on the other hand is eager to follow your every move.
In the UK, it has been noted that a citizen of London will be seen on CCTV monitor by government watchdogs as many as 300 times a day. Recently, the UK added ‘audio’ to their spy cam’s and are not able to tell you to “pick up the gum wrapper you just threw down” or can actually tell you to stay put until the police arrive to give you a ticket.
Back here in the U.S., most folks don’t give CCTV’s a second thought. However, if one takes the time to be aware of his or her surroundings, then they will find that the following places are just jam packed with CCTV’s.
- Walmart (most people don’t even look at the ceilings in Walmart)
- Public Schools
- Convenience Stores
- Grocery store chains
- Car wash
- Video Rental stores
- Police Stations
- Court Houses
- Hundreds of other places
Take time to look around on your next shopping trip. CCTV’s are not that hard to find.
But, and that’s a big but, the issue of surveillance is not a two way street. Police and police departments all over the world are appalled that someone would take video or capture audio of an arrest that they thought was heavy handed.
Recently, in Boston, a man was arrested for capturing “audio” when he saw three police officers struggling to extract a plastic bag from a teenager’s mouth. In the article, he said, “One of the officers asked me whether my phone had audio recording capabilities’’, then his phone was seized and he was arrested. His charge was “Illegal electronic surveillance”.
Another Bostonian experienced a similar situation. Thinking that Boston police officers were unnecessarily rough while breaking up a holiday party in Brighton that he was attending, he used his cell phone to record the incident. Police confronted him and he was arrested and also charged with “illegal surveillance”.
However, in a suburban Chicago community, the system backfired when a police officer was caught by his own patrol vehicle’s Dash Cam as he beat a man during a traffic stop (Video above left). The man who was beaten was not fighting the officer, nor was he resisting. he was on the ground attempting to protect himself. If a police officer knows that you are filming him at a traffic stop, or a speed trap, how long do you think it would be before you are confronted?
These are just a few of the many recent events why Christians to believe that the Book of Revelation is accurate, even though many churches will not address that particular book at all. Read the Book of Revelation! It’s an eye opener. Then read the Book “1984”, you’ll be amazed.
