When our founding fathers broke from the tyrannical rule of the English monarchy, they meant to establish a nation where freedom was the rule instead of the exception. Our nation was founded on Biblical principles because this gave us a solid foundation on which to build upon.
Our founders knew that law; justice and truth were related, and you can’t have one without the other. Their view of law came from, and was fashioned around the teachings of Montesquieu, Locke and Blackstone.
These men taught that man’s law must conform to the higher law of God. The founders meant for the Constitution to be interpreted using a fixed standard. In essence, the plain meaning and original intent of those who wrote it are to be carefully considered.
Should it really be any surprise when our corrupt leaders take the words of the Constitution out of context to manipulate and make them appear to support their points of view? They have the audacity to violate the Constitution such as in the following examples:
This administration surrendered our sovereign rights of war-making to foreign powers and international authorities. This was done when we attacked Libya without consulting Congress. This is a violation of the Constitution Article 1, Section 8 and U.S. Code Title 50, Chapter 33:1541-1548.
In 2009, Mr. Obama accepted a foreign title and office, while President, when he assumed the Chairmanship of the U.N. Security Council. This is the international body responsible for declaring war on behalf of the U.N. This is a violation of the Constitution Article I, Section 9.
The current administration defied a Federal Court Order when they refused to cease from the unconstitutional implementation of the “Patient Healthcare and Affordable Care Act of 2010. This violates the Constitution Article II, Section 3, and Article III, Sections 1 and 2.
The current NSA spy scandal is in direct violation of the Fourth Amendment which says:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
The First Amendment has been violated more than one time. The most recent was when H.R. 347 was passed which sets up no free speech zones. This law gives the Secret Service power to prohibit citizens from engaging in protests anywhere the Secret Service is present.
Under this law, a person can be arrested by the Secret Service and charged with a felony for peacefully standing on the sidewalk shouting at someone who is in the protection of the Secret Service.
The list of violations against our freedoms is endless and far too numerous to list in this short article. James Madison warned us about something like this happening when he said:
Since the general civilization of mankind, I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of freedoms of the people by gradual and silent encroachment of in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.
Most of our leaders seem to be uncaring and have no intention of upholding the words they speak. They have no second thoughts about violating the oath they took to support and defend our Constitution. They easily dismiss the solemnity of this sacred oath. So then can they be trusted to run our nation when they can’t keep their word?
The latest person to show their lack of understanding about the oath they took was Nancy Pelosi. In a recent press release she said the following:
In Congress, there can be no more fitting memorial to the lives lost in Aurora, in Newtown, and across the country than a concerted effort to enact commonsense gun safety legislation.
We must uphold our oath to ‘protect and defend’ the constitution and all Americans by expanding background checks and keeping dangerous firearms out of the wrong hands. We must restore confidence in the safety of our homes, schools, movie theaters, and neighborhoods by taking clear, concrete steps to prevent gun violence.
The oath that Congress takes actually says:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
There is a difference between support and protect. The dictionary definition of support is as follows, to maintain (a person, family, establishment, institution, etc.) by supplying with things necessary to existence. The dictionary definition of protect is as follows, to defend or guard from attack, invasion, loss, annoyance, insult, etc.; cover or shield from injury or danger.
The Constitution doesn’t need Pelosi to defend or protect it, she needs to maintain the spirit and heart of it. If politicians can’t even understand the difference between two simple words how can they understand its true intent and therefore how can they support or maintain it? In violating it for their own evil agenda they are creating an atmosphere of tyranny.
What the leaders of today fail to realize is that our nation was founded to escape the tyranny of yesteryear. We were founded as a place to have freedom and to serve God as every man’s conscience sees fit.
Perhaps John Adams said it best when he said:
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
It would appear that the leaders of today have forgotten that it was by the hand of Divine Providence that this nation was established. Benjamin Franklin said, “the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: ‘that God governs in the affairs of men.’ And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?”
Since our nation was founded upon Biblical principles it would do our country well to remember the following verse. Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” Our nation has been so blessed, however, since we are openly forsaking him a multitude of troubles seem to be overtaking us.
Judges 10:13, gives us a solemn warning about forsaking God and it says, “Yet you have forsaken Me and served other gods. Therefore I will deliver you no more.” When we idolize Hollywood actors, football players and so on we are basically serving other gods. When we don’t put God first we are forsaking him and as a result his blessing will be removed from us.
We would do well to take 2 Chronicles 7:14, to heart and put it into action. It says, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Isn’t it time for America to return unto God so that his blessing will be restored upon us. A Godly nation is the best legacy we could ever hope to leave our children. We must take a stand for righteousness’ sake. We cannot allow the further dismantling of our freedoms if we want our children’s future to be secure.
