The 149th Annual Platte County Fair runs at the fairgrounds in Tracy, Mo. through Sunday July 28. On Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. the fair features a Truck and Tractor Pulls. Other attractions will include exhibits, food and entertainment.
The Kansas City Fringe Festival began on Thursday July 18 with a preview of 50 acts at the Spencer Theatre on the UMKC campus. The festival is located at several venues including the Unicorn Theatre, Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre and Just off Broadway to mention a few. The final production of the American Heartland Theatre in Crown Center begins on July 12. “The Bikinis-A New Musical Beach Party” will run through August 25, with the theater closing with the show. This lovely theater has been part of the live arts scene in Kansas City for many years and everyone should take this last opportunity to see a show while they can.
Several sporting events are scheduled for the weekend including the Web.com Midwest Cadillac Classic at the Lionsgate Golf Course in Overland Park, Kan. Golfer on the tour will tee it up through the week-end with the final round on Sunday. FCKC Blues return to the Verizon Wireless Field in Overland Park at 7:30 on Saturday night.

Czar Bar
The Czar Bar located at 1531 Grand, in the Power and Light Entertainment District. Friday night Hit Makers Music presents: Jess Williamson with Collin Martin at 7 p.m. At 9:30 E/C Presents: Janet the Planet, Wrong Kata Trio, The Phantastics and Parts of Speech. On Saturday night at 9 p.m. the Record Machine Presents: Palace Spirit is Spirit and Volcanos.
Davey’s Uptown Ramblers Club
Davey’s Uptown Ramblers Club is located just south of downtown at 3402 Main in Kansas City. Friday night the club will feature Torn the **apart, Abolishment of Flesh, Marasmus and Despise the Sun at 8 p.m. Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. Federation of Horsepower, Knife Crime and the Mad Kings perform.
Kellys Westport Inn
Kelly’s Westport Inn located at 500 Westport Road, in the Westport Entertainment District, will feature the Wonderfuzz at 10 p.m. on Friday night. At 10 p.m. on Saturday night Flannigan’s Right Hook take the stage. Kelly’s Westport Inn has an outdoor dining and drinking area located on the roof-top of the business.
RecordBar
The RecordBar is located at 1020 Westport Road in the Westport Entertainment District. On Friday night at 9:30 p.m. the club features Hidden Pictures, Capsules, Twinsmith and the Lonely Hearts. Saturday night at 7 p.m. the club features Missouri Woods with no cover charge. At 9 p.m. Dessa and Sims perform.
The Riot Room
The Riot Room is located at 4048 Broadway in the Westport Entertainment District. On Friday night beginning at 2 p.m. the club presents Fest 2013 with Slick Rick, Spice 1, PMD, MC Eiht and GLC. Fest 2013 continues at 6 p.m. with Spice 1 and MC Eight. Saturday Fest 2013 continues at 2 p.m. with Slick Rick, PMD and GLC.
Uptown Arts Bar
Located at 3611 Broadway the Uptown Arts Bar Friday night from 7 to 8 p.m. the club will feature The Concept of Anxiety. From 8 to 9:30 p.m. The Noah Davis Band performs, followed by Poetic Underground – Fringe Festival Shows. Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. the club presents Frikus and the Hooligans, Hey Minnie the Moocher from the Fringe Festival and The Concept of Anxiety.
