The next Des Moines KoreanCopia event takes place on Sunday, June 2 at Appare Japanese Steakhouse (located at 3769 86th Street in Urbandale). KoreanCopia is a celebration of Korean food and culture that is usually held about once a month. The menu usually consists of approximately 12 authentic Korean dishes prepared by Chef Jay Lee.
The June 2 event will start at 6 p.m. Here is a look at some of the menu items that Chef Lee has announced for this event:
Beef Bulgogi (grilled marinated beef sirloin)
Bibim Guksu (spicy cold noodles)
Pork Bulgogi (spicy grilled marinated pork)
Japchae (stir-fried sweet potato noodles with vegetables)
Chicken Galbi (sweet and spicy chicken)
Haemul Pajeon (seafood pancakes)
Cabbage Kimchi (spicy fermented cabbage)
Cucumber Kimchi (spicy fermented cucumber)
Shigeunchi (seasoned spinach)
blanched and seasoned mung bean
Bean Paste Stew (pork shoulder, tofu, mushrooms, and zucchini)
KoreanCopia events are hosted by Ben Jung of Ingersoll Wine & Spirits. Tickets for the events may be purchased at either Ingersoll Wine & Spirits location (3500 Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines and 1300 50th Street in West Des Moines). Tickets for the June 2 KoreanCopia are $50 for 2 tickets until the first 24 tickets are sold and $35 per ticket thereafter. If you cannot make it to the June 2 KoreanCopia event, there will be a second event this month, held on June 23 (again at Appare).
