San Mateo, CA. As the 2013 San Mateo County Fair heads toward its final days before ending on Sunday, June 16th it is noteworthy to share my knowledge about some really fun activities for kids of all ages. Obviously most Fair goers know about the carnival rides, music entertainment and great food, but there’s more! Every year, the San Mateo County Fair Exhibit Hall goes through a transformation into an amazing arcade of interesting attractions. This year at the Fair, we decided to take a closer look at fun activities for kids of all ages and review some of the unique activities the Fair has to offer? We found games and puzzles like “Optical Illusion”, “Tic Tac Toe”, “Balancing Act”, cube puzzles, gear puzzles, traditional puzzles, brain teaser puzzles and many other activities that are located in the Exhibit Hall’s northwest section of the building.
We discovered that the brain teaser games offered in the Fair Exhibit Hall appeared to be among the most appealing games for kids to play because they are fun, provocative and inspired gamesmanship. After reviewing and trying out a large number of the games available in the Fair Exhibit Hall, we ourselves got hooked on a few of the games like many other curious patrons. What was noticeable about most of the brain teaser games in the Fair Exhibit Hall was that people of all ages were playing the puzzles and various activities. It was clear that even though the brain teaser games are apparently designed to attract kids, we found that all the activities were irresistible and engaging for adults too.
One of my favorite brain teaser activities at the Fair Exhibits this year was the “Nails” balancing puzzle that you have to see to believe. This particular brain teaser game must be solved by taking 11 of 12 nails that measure approximately 9″ in length and arrange them so that 11 of the 9″ nails will balance on top of a single 9″ nail. Needless to say there were several groups of people who got hooked on trying to figure out how to solve the Nails balancing puzzle and this particular brain teaser was just one of many hands-on fun activities that we tried.
Another fun activity in the Fair Exhibit Hall that many youngsters found to be very interesting was a tech component construction table that was a welcome sight to aspiring young engineers. The table has several micro devices, circuit boards, and other tech components spread out on a large table along with various tools that allow a participant of any age to easily construct or deconstruct one of the several high tech appliances that are available for reincarnation.
When you come to this year’s San Mateo County Fair Exhibit Hall, take a detour over to look at the fun games and activities for kids of all ages. You and your family will have a wonderful time!
