I remember when I first read ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ by Alexandre Dumas. I stayed up late to finish it, and when I turned the last page I couldn’t believe the story was over. It is one of those books that you’ll find yourself re-reading several times through the years. So, you can only imagine how excited I was when I found out about Holy Ghost Writer’s series of novels that are based on the Count’s story. I was glad that ‘The Sultan of Monte Cristo’ continued Edmond Dantes’s adventures, and that I got to read again about my favorite characters. But what took me completely by surprise was the new book the author has published, ‘The Sovereign Order of Monte Cristo: Newly Discovered Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’, which presents Edmond’s adventures from Sherlock Holmes’s point of view.
Can you imagine these two popular characters together in the same book? If you’ve read Dumas’s novel and ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’, then you’re going to love the third book in Holy Ghost Writer’s series. Taking his/her inspiration from the French classic, but keeping the unique voice of Doyle’s character, the author has managed to create a truly original, engaging story that will keep the reader glued to the pages. The book begins with a condensed story of Edmond’s adventures, and then you’ll see how Edmond meets young Sherlock and even teaches him a thing or two about profiling. Their thrilling adventures will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you turn the pages as fast as possible.
Now it’s clear to me that ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ series is getting better and better with each published book. Holy Ghost Writer never ceases to amaze me with his/her creativity and ability to create believable characters and complex, original plots. ‘The Sovereign Order of Monte Cristo’ is not only a sequel to the classic story, but it’s also a prequel to ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’.
So, if you feel like reading a unique story that has a little bit of everything – romance, mystery, suspense, adventure – then you should definitely try Holy Ghost Writer’s series of sequels to Dumas’s ‘Count of Monte Cristo’.
