Erica Miller is hoping to get the chance to audition in Las Vegas for The Voice. The mother of six is eager to fulfill her dream of becoming a contestant for one of the most popular singing competitions in America. While she had gotten the green light to audition for The Voice, the Reno resident needed to figure out how to get to Las Vegas. With a big family and a relatively new job, money is tight and breaking the budget isn’t good for the family. So Erica did something quite unique to find financial assistance. She started a crowdfunding project in hopes to get help in paying the expenses. In our exclusive interview on Sunday, Erica revealed her journey to have the chance to perform.
“I feel The Voice’s priorities are all about music,” said Erica Miller explaining why she wants to be on the show. “It seems like they appreciate being you.” Loving the idea that The Voice wants contestants who hit the stage to be authentic, it seems that Erica Miller is looking to get a chance to do her best.
The sophisticated woman decided that even though money was tight, she was going to try to get to Las Vegas. And to do that she would need five hundred dollars. With a down to the penny budget, she figured out the expenses, put up a crowdfunding project, and then Erica started asking strangers for help.
“Every little bit counts,” said Erica Miller about the funds for her project. Figuring in the hotel, flights and food, there will be no extravagant purchases, just the hope that the producers of The Voice can hear her sing. While it sounds so small, the idea really shows how much Erica wants the opportunity.
So what background does the possible contestant have in singing? Well, Erica started singing in church years ago and was in choir during high school. She has great vocal qualities and hopes to prove that to the reality show. Of course before she can even try out, she has to make the trip.
Erica’s journey to be a contestant on The Voice isn’t just about singing, it’s about following dreams and making the most of life. Being a mom with six kids, the youngest being 8 months and the oldest is 16 years old, Erica’s passion is contagious and her decision to audition has support from family and friends in Reno. Showing that anything is possible, her hope just to audition is just that simple. And whatever the producers say, Erica feels she is ready to hear it.
Erica Miller isn’t the typical contestant that one might find in line at The Voice, but that’s alright. After going back to school later in life, she doesn’t might taking a different path and all she asks for is to get the chance.
